All material can be renewed 2 times unless someone is waiting for the material.
Overdue items may be renewed
At the library, by telephone, or online.
Please keep in mind, after an item is overdue for 30 days it is considered “Lost”. Lost items do incur a fee of $50 per item. Please renew or return the item whenever possible. Speak with the library about replacing a lost item and/or paying for such an incidence. Thank you.

Library materials may be returned to the library even when it is closed
For your convenience, the library has provided two book return boxes
One for books
One for audiovisual materials (DVDs and Books on CD)
Book returns are located at the front entrance of the Library.
Please do not return audiovisual materials in the return for books, as this causes damage to the AV cases. Thank you!
Lost & Damaged Items
Borrowers are responsible for paying for materials lost or damaged. The borrower will be assessed the price of material permanently lost or destroyed plus a processing fee. The default amount is $50.00, but please speak with the Librarian about for alternate solutions.
Fines & fees
We only charge fees for Lost Items and/or damaged items. Once you login to your account, you will see that services have been suspended due to a unresolved fine. If you access “My Account”, there will be a short explanation and a request to contact the library and discuss. Please do so as soon as possible. You will be unable to reserve items, check-out, or utilize our online e-resources until the issue is resolved. Thank you.

Lost Library Cards
Placing a hold
What is a Hold: Placing a hold will reserve items for you to pick up when they are available.
How to place a hold online:
To place a hold you must have a valid Dublin Public Library card.
Click on, or open the details of the item you are considering. Here you will find all the information regarding author, location within the library, summary, and whether the item is “In” or “Out”.
To request that the item be put on hold (Reserved), click on the “Reserve this item” button. The system will immediately ask you to confirm how you’d like to receive notification when the item is ready for pickup. Chose the proper preference from the drop-down and click “Place Reserve”.
Once completed, a small blurb will appear next to the item, verifying your place in line and how you will be contacted. Staff will then retrieve the item (if on shelf). If the item is “out”, once it is checked-in/returned, it will go to the next person on the wait list.
The library will notify you by email or by phone when a requested item is ready for pickup. The item is placed on the reserve shelf under your last name. The reserve shelf is located behind circulation and require a staff member to retrieve and check-out.
Items are held for 5 business days before the hold is automatically cancelled and the item is moved to the next person or returned to the shelves.
Cancel a Hold/Reserve status
Checking the Status, Cancelling, or Suspending a Hold: Log in to your library account first! Click on the button “My Account”. The first tab displays your library card and contact information. Click on the “Reserves/Requests” tab to display your current requests. Each item will have a Status of Not Ready or Ready, a date requested, your place in line, and how many copies you’ve requested. There is a button to “Cancel” the material. Below your list of requests, there are instructions to defer or suspend a hold if you are going out of town or unavailable for certain period of time. Click on the “defer” word which is highlighted blue and you will be able to input the dates you will be unavailable.
Restrictions: Holds may not be placed on Reference Books and many items in Special Collections and Local History.

-Please note the library will continue with reduced hours. -The BUILDING is now open by appointment only; however, you can continue curbside if you'd rather not enter the building. Just place your reserves either online, give us a call, or email us and we will pack everything up for you and place it on the lobby bench at the Main Entrance. -As usual, please wait for confirmation of pickup time to ensure your items are ready. -Any time the library is open, you may utilize curbside services. -Please wear a mask whenever possible when coming into contact with the library. A MASK or face covering is required. If you do not have one, we have disposable masks for you to take and use. If you have a medical condition or other situation which prevents you from wearing a mask, you will be asked to utilize curbside services and refrain from entering the building. Children under 3 do not need to wear a mask

Please use hand sanitizer provided upon entering the building as well as leaving the building
Browsing appointments are for up to 30 minutes. Computer reservations are up to 1 hour. Please adhere to allow for proper cleaning before another appointment
Incoming material will continue to be quarantined for 3-4 days. This includes ILL and donations. Please have patience if something is still marked as "out" or "overdue" on your account
All staff are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Please respect this as well.
Extra cleaning regimens are in place. Staff will wipe down hard surfaces after every appointment. Restrooms will be available upon request.
Re-shelving carts will be available for any items you've picked up but decided to NOT check-out. We ask you do not put away material yourself as an extra precaution
THERE WILL BE NO SEATING OR MEETING SPACES AVAILABLE. There are a few chairs for computer-use or quick seat-breaks, but we are strongly encouraging browsing-only. Due to capacity limits and to ensure thorough cleaning, we cannot allow patrons to sit and stay in the library at this time. Our apologies, and hopefully this will change in the near future.

Check Your Email!
Once you've submitted your online account application, your will receive a confirmation email within a day. This email will have your temporary library card number. Please use this number to place holds/reserves and also to use our e-resources.
