- To place a hold you must have a valid Dublin Public Library card.
- Log in to your Library Account using your library card number and password. You must be logged-in in order to request items.
- Conduct a search in the Library Catalog.
- Click on, or open the details of the item you are considering. Here you will find all the information regarding author, location within the library, summary, and whether the item is “In” or “Out”.
- To request that the item be put on hold (Reserved), click on the “Reserve this item” button. The system will immediately ask you to confirm how you’d like to receive notification when the item is ready for pickup. Chose the proper preference from the drop-down and click “Place Reserve”.
- Once completed, a small blurb will appear next to the item, verifying your place in line and how you will be contacted. Staff will then retrieve the item (if on shelf). If the item is “out”, once it is checked-in/returned, it will go to the next person on the wait list.
- The library will notify you by email or by phone when a requested item is ready for pickup. The item is placed on the reserve shelf under your last name. The reserve shelf is located behind circulation and require a staff member to retrieve and check-out.
- Items are held for 5 business days before the hold is automatically cancelled and the item is moved to the next person or returned to the shelves.
